Guests at Cardrona Alpine Resort were surprised with a performance by Dunedin-based organisation Whakaruruhau last weekend.

Dozens gathered in the base area of the Cardrona Alpine Resort near Noodle Bar last Saturday as Whakaruruhau members began performing.

The performance was sparked by the final day of the Whakaruruhau snow camp hosted at the resort.

Over a dozen tamariki (children) took part in group lessons over two days and spent the night on the mountain in the Den.

For some children, it was their first time coming to the snow. The collaboration was part of Cardrona’s Ride Tamariki initiative. The initiative originated from the vision to make sure every child from across the region had the opportunity to try skiing, without barriers because of their financial situation.
