A large-scale artwork dedicated to the cultural diversity of Central Otago will be officially unveiled on Sunday.

The mural, on two external walls of the Alpha St Pavilion in Cromwell, depicts the faces of six Central Otago locals from various backgrounds.

The project was a joint effort between the Central Otago Arts Trust and Welcoming Communities. The mural was created by renowned Melbourne-based street artist Ling, formerly of Dunedin.

A public celebration of the mural, which was painted during the winter, will take place on Sunday between 2pm and 4pm. The afternoon will involve a game of football or volleyball and include light refreshments.

The event is being held in conjunction with the inaugural Bislama Language Week, celebrating one of the three official langiages of Vanuatu.
