A Pasifika Christmas Celebration on Saturday at the Cromwell Sports Club is a way to keep island culture alive and make community connections, says organiser Meraine Rotari.

‘‘The main idea is to keep our culture alive while living in an isolated place, and to support each other, connect with each other and encourage each other.

‘‘We encouraged them to share their cultural dance and songs and island food.’’

The celebration starts at 10am and will include children’s games, a bouncy castle, volleyball, cultural entertainment and music, and a formal night from 7pm with participants asked to wear formal island wear.
