Central Otago District Council parks officer of planning Maria Burnett discusses ideas with Omakau Racecourse Recreation Community Advisory Group member Ross Wilson at the Draft Omakau and Ophir Reserve Management Plan drop-in on Monday.

The session was part of consultation to give direction on the future use of council-owned reserves in Omakau and Ophir.

The draft reserve management plan covers four reserves — the Omakau Recreation Reserve, which includes sporting fields and a camping ground; the Wilson St Reserve, home of the Omakau Toy Library; the Ophir Recreation Reserve, site of the community swimming pool and tennis courts; and the undeveloped Ophir Ice Rink Reserve.

Community-driven plans for a hub to be built at the Omakau Recreation Reserve are in progress.

The council is taking public feedback on the draft management plan with a survey on its website.

Hard copies are also available at Muddy Creek Cafe in Omakau.

Submissions close on August 17.
