The Otago Community Hospice has been bolstered for another year by the kind donations of Central Otago residents.

The annual fundraising dinner was held at The Packing Shed last Friday to support the hospice. This year 115 attendees raised over $40,000, which will go towards the hospice.

The dinners have been held since 2018, after local resident Russell Garbutt approached Pioneer Energy who provided the base and corporate support to get the idea off the ground.

Art work, bike tours and overnight trips were some of the 36 lots up for auction, all donated by local individuals and businesses.

Hospice Otago chief executive Ginny Green said she was enormously grateful to the donors, attendees and organisers.

The event was a shining example of a community helping itself to provide services which were vital at the end of life, she said.

At the event, she presented Pioneer Energy with a Grahame Sydney print for their office, which had been donated by the artist, as gratitude of the company’s support over the years.
