Entries open this week for the Clutha Classic and Sprint Classic kayak races on December 28 for those athletes with a Covid-19 vaccine pass.
The Southern Lakes Multisport Club committee said in a newsletter Sport NZ had advised the club the Clutha River event was considered a “gathering”.
‘‘Under Orange there is a limit of 50 participants if we do not request vaccine certificates.
‘‘If we do require vaccine certificates, we can have unlimited participants.’’
Competitors and volunteers at club events must provide evidence of full vaccination, the club said.
The club would accept a vaccine certificate PDF document, uploaded at the same time as the entry form.
If people cannot upload their vaccination pass yet, they can explain their vaccine plans and show the pass at registration.
Entries close on December 22. They will not be accepted on the day.
The race begins at Albert Town and finishes at Bendigo Reach, near Tarras.
