The Central Otago Motorcycle Club has announced it will host the 2020 New Zealand Mini Nationals for the first time at its track on Bannockburn Rd.
Looking forward to competing is Lochie Cornish (10), of Cromwell.
The young rider has won the Southern Series twice before, and is leading in his age group, the 65cc 8-11.
President Blake McPhee said there could be 150 to 300 entries from across New Zealand who would travel to Cromwell for the national event, taking place on October 3 and 4 next year.
The event was normally held in the North Island, and featured bikers from the ages of 4 to 11 in about seven classes.
The existing track will be rebuilt for the competition, following the Motorcycle New Zealand guidelines, Mr McPhee said.
It would be good for the club to get some more junior and mini members and families involved, he said.
