Entries for the Alexandra Blossom Festival Senior Queen close on Sunday.

The Senior Queen has been a fixture in the festival since 1996, putting a spotlight on those who are often behind the scenes.

Clyde and Districts Lions Club representative and former Senior Queen entrant Sue Noble-Adams said the event was not about beauty or fashion but about having a ‘‘fun experience’’. Women over 65 who have contributed to their communities are eligible. Nominees will enjoy a high tea with the judges on September 12. The Senior Queen will be crowned at the Alexandra District Club on September 19. Entry forms and more information are available from the Clyde and Districts Lions Club, or by contacting Ms Noble-Adams on 027 224-7515.
