Riders on the Lake Dunstan Cycling and Walking Trail will be able to take a seat to enjoy the views thanks to the Alexandra Lions Club.
The club donated and installed a bench seat along the trail at Annan Gully, about 1.5km from the Clyde Dam.
Club past-president Barry McCall said the trail was a community asset and the club wanted to do something to complement it.
The seat is the first of two donated by the club – a second will be installed on the Roxburgh Gorge Trail.
“We wanted to enhance the trail experience for people, and to try to make people stop and look around rather than race ahead,” he said.
Installing the seat was quite the event with club members transporting it across Lake Dunstan by boat and carrying it to the final spot.
The seat is dedicated to past Lions district governor Donald Boyd, who died in December.
Mr Boyd joined the Alexandra Lions Club when he moved to Alexandra in 2000 and became involved in his new community.
During his time with the club he was an advocate for youth activities, and served two years as club president.
A plaque will be added to acknowledge his work as a Lion.
