The future of solar power is the subject of a Royal Society talk in Wanaka on Friday.

Dr Michael Price of Victoria University will focus on the need to increase solar power generation tenfold by 2030 and provide an overview of where today’s cutting-edge physics, chemistry and materials science will lead in the next few years.

Dr Price studied in New Zealand and overseas, worked for the Smart Villages initiative in development countries and is now the Rutherford Postdoctoral Fellow at Victoria University in the ultrafast spectroscopy group, which is working on the next generation of solar panels and new tools for getting to a carbon-zero future.

His presentation is at the Wanaka Presbyterian Community Centre from 6pm.
