The booming Aspiring Gymsports club hosted its annual display on Sunday, November 14,  at the Wanaka Recreation Centre.

Club committee member Julie Jones said 200 gymnasts trained for the display and enjoyed presenting to their families and the community.

The club has about 300 members and has outgrown various facilities several times over since it was founded in 2002.

It has been based in Reece Cr since 2015 and has been lobbying the Queenstown Lakes District Council for about eight years for support for its activities.

The council this year agreed to a 10-year lease of the former Mitre 10 building and would spend $1 million fitting it out to be used by the gymnastics club and other youth organisations.

“We are hoping next year to be holding our display in our new facility along with running heaps more classes and even regional competitions,” Ms Jones said.
