Midwinter Christmas cheer came to Cromwell earlier this week in the form of a community collaboration.

More than 55 midwinter picnic packs, funded through Te Hau Toka, were delivered to people nominated from various community groups.

Primary School pupils wrote Christmas cards and the packs were delivered by the local cubs.

Residents at the town’s council-owned flats were also treated to carols performed by the Fine Thyme Singers.

Organiser and Cromwell Community House manager Karen Palmer said the project was a collaboration between some community groups including Neighbourhood Support and Good Bitches Baking and an opportunity to spread a bit of cheer now winter had set in.

Cromwell cub Lola White was making the deliveries with her friends.

“I feel excited to make people happy,” she said.
