Fostering connection and collaboration for Central Otago businesses is the purpose of the region’s newest business group.
CoLab – the name from a combination of collaboration and Central Otago – is a new monthly breakfast meeting based in Alexandra and Clyde.
Founder Dewald de Beer said he wanted to create a space for business people to meet, build connections and provide pathways for those with common interests to work with each other.
He had been involved in collaborative groups before moving to Central Otago and found them to be beneficial, both personally and professionally.
“People are here [in Central Otago] by choice – they choose to do business here and that’s a great thing,” he said.
“If we can be the conduit for people to do business with each other then that’s the best outcome.”
CoLab meets on the last Wednesday of the month and alternates between Clyde and Alexandra.
The group’s format will be casual networking over breakfast.
“We want to support the local cafes in the area,” Mr de Beer said.
CoLab is by invitation; however, anyone interested can contact Mr de Beer for details.
