A local communications agency has won a national award.

Wanaka communications agency Scope Media won best-small-to medium PR Consultancy of the Year Award in Auckland last month.

Scope Media managing director Celia Crosbie said the awards entry process was a robust exercise.

“This is the award we have had our sights set on for several years but we have not felt ready to enter till this year,” Ms Crosbie said.

The entry included case studies of work Scope Media had produced from the past year.

The award judges acknowledged Scope Media as an example of of small consultancy displaying resilience, entrepreneurial commitment and adaptability in the face of extreme business adversity.

Ms Crobsie said while the Covid-19 pandemic caused a collapse of the tourism and hospitality industries they offered affordable strategies and programmes for the local community.

“We care about our community and are passionate about helping brands and communities flourish, so it made sense for us to design packages to help local businesses that are doing it tough.

“We’ve been able to continue making meaningful connections with our people and place, through the privilege of being able to tell their stories,” Ms Crosbie said.

She credited the win on her talented Wānaka- based team of marketing communications professionals.

“They punch above their weight in the work they do across the district and nationwide, but to be recognised formally as one of the best in the business is so awesome,” she said.
