Teenagers are known for their drama, but these ones have proved to be showstoppers.

The Otago heats of Showquest performing arts competition was held in Dunedin last week, with Mt Aspiring College and Dunstan High School coming out on top.

Mt Aspiring College won the top accolade, winning the Otago heat for the second year in a row.

It goes on to compete, via video, against other regional winners for the national title.

Last year, Mt Aspiring won the national Showquest title, with the competition run online for the first time.

Dunstan was competing for the first time and won the award for Best Theme and Best Use of Lighting.

Dunstan High School year 13 pupil Maia Adams (17) led the school’s production, alongside fellow pupil Vanessa Gallagher (16), and said it was a “very emotional” experience.
