Wanaka jazz fans have waited nine long months for the ‘‘Rebirth of the Cool’’ jazz concert with the Ralph Miller Nonet.

The Dunedin Jazz Club and the Wanaka Concert Society originally intended to present the Miles Davis tribute concert in January, but Covid-19 event restrictions intervened. The concert has been rescheduled for Sunday at the Lake Wanaka Centre.

The nonet, a nine-piece ensemble of top jazz musicians from Dunedin and Christchurch, recently gave a sold-out performance at Hanover Hall in Dunedin. The programme features compositions that pay tribute to jazz trumpeter Miles Davis.

The compositions originally appeared on the 1957 album Birth of the Cool.

The concert features arrangements by Gil Evans and compositions by Gerry Mulligan, John Lewis and Davis himself.

Tickets are available from Gifted Design and Eventfinda (plus booking fee).

Admission is free for school pupils.
