Winning the junior female category at the inaugural TriWanaka Swim Run series last week is Fleur Jansen (9), of Wanaka. The inaugural series was a “fabulous first event”, event manager Amanda Inkster said. With perfect weather and good lake conditions it was a “great success”. Thirty-one competitors took part, aged from 8 to 62. The family affair was designed to encourage anyone new to triathlon to “give it a go”, she said. Another race will take place today at Stoney Creek Reserve, in Roys Bay, from 5.30pm. A second series of events would begin on January 11 for five weeks, Mrs Inkster said.
