Winter Games action

Close to 1000 top athletes from around the world have been competing at the Winter Games NZ, taking place in the Queenstown, Wanaka and Naseby areas. Local athletes made their mark, with Wanaka freeskier Nico Porteous winning the world junior championship in men’s freeski halfpipe on Tuesday and Wanaka freerider Sam Lee taking second place at the Freeride World Qualifier on Monday. The games will conclude on Saturday with a closing ceremony at Cardrona Alpine Resort.
