Smallbore rifle enthusiast honoured for his efforts

Fruitlands man Trevor Davis has been honoured by the Central Otago Smallbore Rifle Association.
Davis, who shoots for the Gimmerburn Smallbore Club, was awarded life membership by association president Murray Petrie at a ceremony recently.
Association secretary Bruce Smith said Davis was an outstanding recipient of the award.
‘‘The fact that there is indoor rifle target shooting in Central Otago today is due to the persistent efforts of a small group of members dedicated to the sport, including Trevor Davis, who is only the third member of our association to receive a life membership badge. Joining the Gimmerburn Smallbore Club — of which he is also a life member — in the early ’70s, Trevor has over the years risen through the grades and as a result his name is etched on many of the association’s trophies. And as an Otago representative, he has made the ‘‘top 10’’ team for representative shoots.’’
Mr Smith said Davis was ‘‘generous with his time and passing on of his knowledge of the sport to those starting out. Having also served as secretary of the association for 23 years, he is most deserving of such an award.’’Adidas shoesNIKE HOMME
