The 2021 Monteiths Clyde to Alexandra Road Race finally took place on Saturday after its initial August 27 date became a casualty of Covid-19 lockdowns.

The 10km walking and running races started on the Clyde Dam and headed down through Clyde, past Dunstan Hospital, and along Muttontown Rd to the main highway, then into Alexandra.

The shorter 6km distances started halfway along Muttontown Rd.

Alexandra Harriers and Walkers Club president Jo Wilson said 210 walkers and runners entered this year.

The 2km and 4km children’s runs were cancelled this year as officials were unsure about the availability of the off-road course because of transmission work going on overhead.
