Challenge Wanaka has had to cancel its February triathlon festival because of Covid-19 Red restrictions but all athletes can still race the 90km bike course on a virtual platform.

The Roth-based Challenge Family and partner ROUVY have put the virtual bike course up for free, allowing athletes to enjoy the views of lakes Wanaka and Hawea from the comfort of their smart trainers.

Kiwi Olympic bronze medallist Hayden Wilde will lead a virtual pre-race group ride on Tuesday, February 15 at 7pm and will also line up on race day, Saturday, February 19 at 9am.

The platform provides real-time footage. There will be spot prizes.
