International development coaches Shaun Harris and Anton Blackwood spoke to pupils about health and wellbeing and gave them footballing tips as part of a national tour to support the six-week New Zealand Healthiest Schools Challenge. There are 55,000 pupils from more than 500 schools taking part in the challenge, which encourages pupils to do simple tasks that would help build healthy habits. “It’s about healthy nutrition and helping to lead a healthy life,” Harris said, “encouraging them to make little changes around their lifestyle – so changes in their diet and nutrition.” The football tips would “motivate them to exercise through sport”. It was the first time Harris had visited New Zealand. “It has been nonstop, but it’s been good – everyone has been very friendly.
