Clyde Tennis Club is rolling out the new season in style following an overhaul of its courts.

The club has replaced its old astro turf to improve the playing surface, and added LED lighting to extend the time available on the new and improved courts.

New turf, which came from Auckland, was rolled out across the club’s three courts last week, following extensive preparation work.

Club captain Mike Cook said the courts were an asset to the Clyde community as well as other outlying areas.

“It’s a pretty strong membership, which services Clyde, Alexandra, Poolburn and Omakau.”

Although the facility is primarily used for tennis, Clyde Primary School, junior hockey teams and holiday-makers also make use of the courts throughout the year, he said.

“It will be well used and [will] be a great community asset and community facility.”
