Alexandra’s Phil Oliver features in the first of a series of videos being produced by Tourism Central Otago (TCO) to capture local personalities sharing their knowledge and love of the region.

Mountain biker Oliver was seen in the video showcasing the single-track mountain bike trails in the Flat Top Hill Conservation Area behind Butcher’s Dam, TCO digital marketing officer Anthony Longman said.

The new online video project would create a series of videos focused on “the key elements and experiences that make Central Otago such a special place to visit”.

In subsequent videos, other locals would share their thoughts on what made Central Otago a great destination for all types of cycling, he said.

“Central Otago is one of the premier destinations in New Zealand for cycling experiences. We’re well known for the Otago Central Rail Trail, but many people don’t know the depth and diversity of cycling options across our region. To maintain our position as a key destination, it is important that we recognise and highlight the diverse nature of experiences, and maintain regular contact with the cycling market through key mediums.”

Videos highlighting other attractions, walking and running trails, events, arts and culture, were planned, Mr Longman said.
