Oturehua’s sporting greats have been recognised through an honours board featuring national representatives in a variety of sports.
The Oturehua and districts New Zealand sports representatives honours board – unveiled at a ceremony in Oturehua on October 23 – contains 35 individual names of those from the Oturehua district who have represented New Zealand, and in some cases won national team or individual titles, in nine different sports.
They include curling, cricket, rugby, hockey, boxing, athletics and shearing greats, and numerous national ice hockey representatives.
The sports board also includes office bearers and administrators of national teams and New Zealand sporting bodies.
The honours board will be displayed permanently inside the Oturehua Hall and a photographic replica will be mounted outside.
