Bronze medals are being worn with pride by two Alexandra aerobics representatives for the second consecutive year.

Dannika Pentecost (10) and Summer Claridge (13) returned home from the New Zealand Gymnastics Championships in Tauranga last week with bronze medals for their pair routine.

The girls, who also received bronze medals for their joint routine at last year’s nationals, were pleased to have, once again, gained a place on the podium while representing their town and Otago.

Their routine, which took 1min 30sec, had to feature a range of compulsory aspects, including high kicks, jumping jacks, push-ups and a hold.

They competed in open level 3, which was for ages 12-14.

“I was really excited that we got on the podium representing Otago,” Summer said.

Dannika and Summer, who are members of the Alexandra Gymnastics Club, both also competed in individual events.

Summer competed in open level 3 and Dannika competed in open level 2, which was for ages nine to 11.
