The New Zealand Merino Shearing and Woolhandling Championships in Alexandra proved to be a success for both shearing contractor Dion Morrell and daughter Pagan Karauria last Saturday night.
Mrs Karauria, of Alexandra, won the open woolhandling title and was presented with her Master Woolhandler award.
Mr Morrell, also of Alexandra, was awarded the Murray McSkimming trophy for his service to the industry.
Invercargill shearer Nathan Stratford won the open shearing final, and Australian shearer Damien Boyle came second.
Mitchell Murray, of Amberley, won the senior shearing final. Scott Cameron, of Alexandra, was second.
Linda Duncan, of Alexandra, was first in the senior woolhandling final, while Amberlee Kahukura, of Omakau, won the junior woolhandling final.
Jude Gamble, of Lawrence, won the inaugural novice woolhandling competition.
