Dunstan rowing crews are celebrating a major haul at the 2021 Maadi Cup, the national championships for school rowing.
The 2021 regatta was hosted by Karapiro Rowing at Lake Karapiro, Cambridge last week.
Dunstan High School finished as top sculling school in the country with five gold and three bronze.
The teams won gold in the girls under-18 double sculls, girls under-15 coxed quad sculls, girls under-18 single sculls, girls under-18 novice quad sculls and the girls under-18 coxed squad sculls.
There were also bronze wins for the girls under-15 coxed quad sculls, girls under-18 novice double sculls and the girls under-17 double sculls.
Sophie Smith, of Dunstan High School, won the girls’ under-18 single event in a time of 8.06.19. Smith also won gold in the girls’ under-18 coxed quad event.
The Presidents Scull, awarded to the overall sculling champions, was also won by Dunstan High School.
The Bill Eaddy Cup, awarded to the coach of the best coach of junior crews, was won by Simon Smith, of Dunstan High School.
Mr Smith said it was ‘‘pretty cool’’.
He was ‘‘over the moon for the athletes and parents’’.
‘‘It is great to have all that great work and time and effort rewarded with such great results.’’
