Blue skies and bright red cherries greeted about 200 visitors, residents and orchard workers at Roxburgh’s annual Cherry Chaos festival on Sunday. Reporter Simon Henderson was there to capture all the cherry-flavoured fun organised by community group Teviot Prospects. Activities included a horizontal cherry bungy, cherry stone spitting and a cherry obstacle course competition. Event manager Martin McPherson said there was a great atmosphere as about 33 teams raced round the obstacle course, including crawling under netting, rolling along in wheelbarrows and climbing over a haystack slide, all while being pelted by cherries. The winning men’s team was Cherry 10,and the top women’s team was Berry Fast. The mixed team winner was Fairview Ice Creaming It, and the winning junior team was Wright’s Honey Stingers.
