After 14 years at Pembroke Park, triathlon festival Challenge Wanaka will have a new home next year.
The three-day event will take place at Bike Glendhu and Glendhu Station on February 18-20, 2021.

Race director Bill Roxburgh, said his team was ‘‘thrilled’’ at the move.
‘‘Bike Glendhu and the surrounds at Glendhu Station is a perfect place to host us and we look forward to seeing you all out there.’’

Glendhu Bay, which had far less prevailing wind than the current course, will be used for the swim leg.
The road from Glendhu Bay to the bottom of Treble Cone skifield would be made into a safe and secure road ride without the dangers of traffic.
Bike Glendhu Bike Park would host the run up its scenic tracks.

An expo will be housed at the Bike Glendhu entrance and Glendhu Station woolshed will be used for registration and athlete functions.

The Wanaka team was focused on delivering a world-class event for all participants of the event, from juniors through to top New Zealand triathletes, he said.
With the real possibility that no international competitors may be able to race, the team were keen to utilise existing infrastructure in Wanaka to reduce costs and keep the race on track for February 2021, he said.
