Roll out of ultrafast broadband across Central Otago and Wanaka will take place over the coming months and, in some cases, years.

Wanaka-Lake Hawea is scheduled to be connected by the end of June.

Alexandra, Luggate, Cromwell-Pisa Moorings, Naseby and Bannockburn will follow over the course of next year.

Clyde, Omakau, Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Estate, Ranfurly, Arthurs Point, Jacks Point and Roxburgh will receive it in 2021.

Ultrafast broadband refers to the fibre optic network being rolled out across the country.

Chorus senior communications specialist Holly Cushen said feedback from communities that had already been connected to the service had been “very positive”.

“The [district] councils have been helpful and supportive, which has contributed to a very successful roll out so far.”
