Power has been restored to people living at the remote end of the Matukituki Valley following the destruction of seven power poles in the Emerald Bay/Glendhu Bluffs fire two weeks ago.

Aurora Energy announced last Friday the burnt poles had been replaced, along with another four poles on the programme for replacement within five years.

Another pole had been removed to straighten a kink in the line span.

Seventy-eight customers either needed a generator or were switched to a temporary supply while the work was done.

Aurora Energy general manager operations and network performance Matt Settle said the additional work was done to future proof the network and prevent disruption to rejuvenating vegetation.
