A million-dollar cheque was the biggest news of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s visit to Central Otago last week.

But Ms Ardern said “the real work” raising money for the Maniototo Hospital rebuild had been done by the Maniototo community.

It was the hard work of hospital leaders and Maniototo residents that had made the $7million hospital rebuild possible, and the amount of fundraising achieved had been extraordinary, Ms Ardern said.

The Prime Minister also visited groups and businesses in Cromwell, Bannockburn, Wanaka and Queenstown.
