A total fire ban has been declared across Central Otago as conditions remain “extremely dry”.
The fire ban was declared on Tuesday despite rain on Monday night.
Otago principal rural fire officer Graeme Still said that rainfall only brought about 3mm to parts of the district, not enough to make a substantial difference to the dry conditions.
“It was only enough to wet the lawn,” he said on Tuesday morning.
It was not known when the fire ban would be lifted, but Mr Still encouraged Central Otago residents to visit the checkitsalright.nz web page to keep an eye on the status.
The ban means no fires are to be lit in the open in Naseby, Ranfurly, Alexandra, Clyde, Cromwell, Wanaka, Luggate and Hawea.
The ban also applies in parts of the Mackenzie district, including Omarama and Otematata.Nike Sneakersnike air jordan 1 yellow ochre paint samples CD0463-401 – Buy Best Price Adidas&Nike Sport Sneakers
