Residents are being faced with spending some “big dollars” as the Cromwell Community Board (CCB) considers budgeting $8.4million for the first round of projects arising from the Cromwell master plan.
The spending – which would come from reserves, and not affect rates – is indicated in the draft Central Otago District Council 2019-20 annual plan, and CCB members discussed the proposed budgets at their meeting on Tuesday.
The figures show $3.5million budgeted for design work and $4.9million for property and land purchases for master plan projects.
Board chairman Neil Gillespie emphasised they were estimates only and subject to consultation, and urged residents to make submissions about the spending.
