Four leaders from 1st Alexandra Scout Group were recognised last month for outstanding service to scouting with awards presented on February 22, World Scout Day.

Also known as Founder’s Day, February 22 marks the birthday of the pioneer of scouting, Lord Robert Baden-Powell.

Group leader Simon Ryan said the annual Founder’s Day awards recognised and thanked leaders for their overall leadership and commitment to scouting.

“It’s a chance for the movement to recognise their contribution to the kids in the group.”

Husband and wife Helen-Louise and Glenn Tetlow both received Bronze Tiki awards for outstanding service to scouting.

Rachel Bellaney and Steven Hills received Lifetime of Service Awards with each having given more than 23 years as scout leaders.

The four leaders had a combined service of more than 70 years and Alexandra Scouts was lucky to have such a group of experienced and dedicated leaders, Mr Ryan said.
