About $1200 was raised during the inaugural Millers Flat book sale at the community’s hall on Saturday. The sale was organised by Ric and Deirdre Hunt and the money raised will go to the Millers Flat Bakehouse restoration programme.
Mr Hunt said about 3000 books, CDs and magazines had been donated.
‘‘It went really well and we had a continuous flow of people through all day,’’ Mr Hunt said.
He was pleased to see a lot of children’s books being sold.
‘‘They are our future readers.
‘‘One wee girl sat on the stage reading and lots of wee kids were reading on the floor.’’
He said his wife Deirdre had done much of the work.
Mrs Hunt said the books had been collected and brought to their house where they were sorted into categories.
The remaining books will be stored in a container until the next sale next year.
