Nine children were treated to a flight from Wanaka to Cromwell, plus a ride in a helicopter, for the annual Blue Light ‘‘take a kid flying’’ event.
New Zealand Police youth aid officer Constable Tamah Alley said children who ‘‘deserved a reward’’ were nominated to take part.
‘‘I asked local schools and youth workers to nominate someone that had been consistently giving their best or achieving well, or had recently contributed to their community in a positive way,’’ she said.
