A group of Mt Aspiring College pupils are working hard to raise nearly $200,000 so they can go to Nepal to volunteer as part of a month-long World Challenge school expedition in April.

Pupils were at the Wanaka A&P Show at the weekend selling sausages at a stall.

Pupil Nikita Sinclair (15) said they raised $1700 at the show.

They need to raise $195,500 ($8500 per student) to cover the expenses of sending 23 pupils to Nepal.

They will also trek to Everest base camp, about 5000m above sea level, and volunteer on a project for a Nepalese school.

“We are going to get lifetime experience from it and it will open our eyes about what is happening over there,” Nikita said.
