More than 100 young riders attended a camp – the second of its kind – at the Gore A&P Showgrounds last month.

Sofia Haviid, who has been riding for 10 years, loved her first experience at the camp, being taught by international show jumper Lisa Coupe.

“It’s great – we did some striding with the ponies and moved into jumps as well,” she said.

Learning about stress management by Jane Pike, of Confident Rider, was the highlight for her.

“It was really interesting. There were talks about the . . . brain and how to deal with breathing and focus.”

Being surrounded by like-minded riders throughout the two-day event was fantastic.

“We’re completely immersed in it and working with all these different instructors.”
