Her first day on the job last Monday was an election promise made good for Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Jim Boult.
Robyn Steel was appointed Upper Clutha liaison manager month and will be based at the council offices in Wanaka.
Governance, engagement and communications manager Naell Crosby-Roe said one of the key priorities for Ms Steel would be ensuring the Wanaka Community Board made the most of the opportunities its position provided.
Ms Steel grew up on a farm in South Otago, and used to holiday regularly in Wanaka.
“I’m really looking forward to making more connections in a community that’s been a big part of my life, and being able to work alongside the Community Board and community on issues that will help shape the future of the area. On a more personal level, there’s also the added pleasure of being closer to home and family again,” Ms Steel said.
