New comic talent sought to try out their skills

Cromwell comedian Tim Muller is looking for new comic talent in the local community.
As part of the group Remarkably Funny, he has been running comedy nights in Queenstown for about a year.

However, possible talent in Wanaka is beckoning, and Mr Muller is seeking people who are ready to drop the mic at a competition for ‘‘comedy virgins’’.
This was an opportunity for people to try comedy for the first time, he said.
“We are really excited about it.”

People who were interested would only need to have a few minutes of material, and advice was available as well, Mr Muller said.
A comedy night in Wanaka was “the logical next step” and they hoped to extend to other areas in Central Otago.

“I always had it in my mind that once we were established in Queenstown it would be really nice to spread our wings and go to a few other towns.”
He hoped to build a circuit so local comedians could hone their skills at venues across the region.

Now was a good time for people considering trying their hand at comedy because heats for New Zealand’s biggest comedy competition, the Raw Comedy Quest, would begin in February, he said.

★ Remarkably Funny presents: Stand-up virgins at Mint Bar from 8pm on Thursday, December 12.
