Polished chrome and sporting style will be on show in Cromwell from March 3 to 8 during the 22nd Pre’56 National MG Rally.
Organiser Billee Marsh said 65 of the classic British sports cars dating from 1930 to 1956 would converge on the town from all parts of the country.
“A large group of Central Otago owners of pre’56 MGs are entered in the rally, with other entrants travelling from as far north as Auckland, as far south as Invercargill and many places in between.
“There are also a good number of international entrants from France, UK, USA and Australia.”
The rally was held every two years and alternated between the North and South Island, she said.
People would be able to view the cars on Monday, March 4 at Highlands Motorsport Park from 10am to 2pm.
On Tuesday, March 5 the cars would do a circuit of Cromwell’s Heritage Precinct before departing on an observation trial from 9am to 10am.
“The early MGs driving through the historic town should be a memorable sight,” she said.
