A village of a bygone era sprang up in Wanaka on Saturday when the grounds of Rippon Hall transformed into a medieval setting.
Wanaka’s Holy Family School was behind the inaugural Medieval Fair that attracted about 1000 visitors, many in period costume, who came to enjoy everything from sword fighting and archery demonstrations to a variety of simple, but challenging, games. Friends of the School chairwoman Bronya Power said it was not yet known how much money had been raised.
“The event was very successful and feedback has suggested we would definitely look at holding it again,” Ms Power said.
Reporter Cris Johnston was on hand to soak up the scene.
