The Alexandra Lions Club has taken the initiative to beautify part of the town used for dumping human waste and waste water.

Lions immediate past-president Barry McCall said that, with permission from the Central Otago District Council, the group had decided to tidy up the sanitation dump station in Boundary Rd.

Supported by local businesses Mackie’s Garden Centre and Nursery, Road Metals, and Fencescaping, volunteers worked to reshape the area behind the station before planting natives and covering the mound with schist rock.

Signage would be the final part of the project.
