serving the community while enjoying social activities is the focus of the Wanaka and Districts Lions Club; one such activity was this recent visit to the beach in Hokitika while cycling the West Coast Wilderness Trail.
Club member Steve Richmond encouraged others to join the group of about 40 who meet each month at their clubrooms on Plantation Rd.
‘‘Our focus is serving our local community, especially youth of the district.
‘‘Projects include our annual 4WD Safari, cutting firewood for sale, catering for a range of organisations including the Wanaka A&P show and the Otago Goldfields Cavalcade.’’
The members were from a variety of career backgrounds with a diverse range of skills, and had an emphasis on social activity and fellowship with a very active ebike group which met most Sundays to explore local tracks and more distant adventures, he said.
