The Alexandra Toy Library has changed the way it operates due to Covid-19 requirements, but it is eager to welcome new and existing members as it celebrates Toy Library Awareness Week.

Secretary Libby Whyte said only volunteer workers and their children are able to come on to library premises at present, but the wide range of high-quality toys, games and puzzles are still available for members to check out.

“We’ve changed tack to put all our toys online and provide she said.

The not-for-profit organisation has helped local children play for more than 30 years, operating in a similar manner to a public library, but with a subscription fee. Costs are covered through these subscriptions, fees for additional hires, grants and fundraising, although Covid has also reduced the library’s fundraising capabilities, Mrs Whyte said.

Prospective members can check out the shelves of toys on the library’s website or social media page.
