Alexandra postie Lisa Hoskin wants to carry out some “random acts of kindness” in Alexandra and Clyde next month, as part of a 60th birthday celebration.
She wants to give packets of her home-made baking to deserving people, to be delivered to mail boxes on December 10 and 11.
“I am looking for nominations of people who need a bit of a perk up because they have had a hard year, or who have done something amazing, or who deserve to sit down with a cuppa and a nice bickie,” she said.
She has already received some nominations and is expecting more.
“I have had some really nice ones and a couple have already brought a tear to my eye.
“It is also the time of year when people get stressed and busy so they can have a bit of a treat.
“It is just a nice thing to do.”
She is also looking for people who might like to donate some baking, and thought four to six pieces in self-sealing bags would work.
She will leave the baking in letterboxes, so would like items not prone to melting.
“What prompted it is my cousin is putting together a basket of 60 random acts of kindness for my uncle in Christchurch, who will be 60.
“He doesn’t get too worried about material things and this was a thing he would like.”
She said she would document the acts and they would be included in the basket.
