Grass kart fans, the wait is over. The new Central Otago Grass Kart Club will host its inaugural race in Wanaka on Saturday.
Member Clint Jeffery said the idea of the first event was to get processes finalised, which meant it would not be open to the general public just yet.
So far there were 14 people registered.
‘‘Going from absolutely nothing to 14 karts is really good.’’
The club has been attracting interest from far and wide since plans to form the club were mooted during Alert Level 4 lockdown.
Organisers are still calling for people to get in touch if they have a kart they want to sell, or landowners who would be willing to let racing take place on their property every so often.
