The generosity of the Upper Clutha community was evident after a staggering $40,000 was raised for local charitable trust M!NT.
M!NT programme manager Charlotte Jackson said M!NT’s aim was to forge great lives for people with intellectual disability in the Upper Clutha region.
Last Saturday local residents and M!NT participants took part in a fundraising day at Corbridge Estates, that included garden games, food and drink, followed by a live auction.
The 150-strong crowd was treated to a performance from the M!NT United Dance Crew.
‘‘A huge thank you to the fundraising committee, who made this games day idea a reality and who put in endless hours organising an exceptionally special day,’’ Ms Jackson said.
‘‘A heartfelt thank you must also go to all the volunteers and families who helped on the day. We are so grateful for your support.’’
The $40,000 was raised for M! NT’s weekly activity programme which enabled children, youth and adults to stay active, engaged and lead a meaningful life through participation in swimming, gym, yoga, music and dance classes.
‘‘We cannot thank our amazing community here in Wanaka enough; this donation will have an overwhelmingly positive and lasting impact on those affected by intellectual disability.”
